About Lunchin
Built by parents, for parents
Why Lunchin Exists
Lunchin started as a real "weekday-morning" problem in our house. I'm Greg — a dad of two picky eaters with an engineering background in systems, data analysis, and modeling — and I kept hitting the same wall: packing school lunches that my kids would actually eat, without repeating the same 3 safe options every week, took way more time and mental energy than it should.
Watching my wife wrestle with the morning rush — juggling backpacks, homework, and five days of lunches that had to be varied, balanced, and kid-approved — I kept thinking: there has to be a better system for this. Building tools to solve problems is what I do for a living, so I decided to learn app development and apply that same problem-solving instinct to something our family actually needed.
Even though my own kids don't have food allergies, I kept hearing the same stress from other families: lunches also have to be safe, school-policy compliant, and easy to prep when life is busy. Lunchin is my attempt to build a practical, parent-to-parent tool — not medical advice — that helps families, whether their kids are adventurous, picky, or managing common allergies, spend less time brainstorming and more time getting out the door with confidence.
Who's Behind Lunchin
Greg Dogum
Founder & Builder
Engineer by training (mechanical undergrad, systems engineering grad), data analyst and modeler by career, dad and lunch-packer by necessity. I got tired of Googling "school lunch ideas" every Sunday night and decided to learn app development to solve the problem myself.
The morning rush at our house — and one too many "I didn't eat that" lunchbox returns — is what finally pushed me to build something better. Lunchin is shaped by real family feedback, including the person in our house who knows exactly which lunch ideas sound great on paper but would never survive a second-grader's inspection.
What We Believe
AI That Actually Helps
Not just random recipes — a system that learns your family's preferences and gets smarter over time through daily feedback.
Safety First
Allergies are serious. Our allergen tracking uses hard blocks — the AI will never suggest a meal containing your child's allergens.
Built for Real Families
Multiple kids, different preferences, weekday chaos — Lunchin is designed for how families actually work, not how Pinterest thinks they do.
Parent-to-Parent
We're not nutritionists or chefs. We're parents who built a tool we wished existed. Every feature comes from a real morning-rush moment.
A Note on Expertise
I'm an engineer building a helpful tool — not a pediatrician, dietitian, or allergist. Lunchin's blog content is researched and cited from authoritative sources (AAP, USDA, CDC, and others), but it's written from a parent's perspective, not a clinical one. For medical or dietary concerns, always consult your child's healthcare provider.
